Scott Mountford
President – 100 Club of Maine

Serving as the first president of The 100 Club of Maine is a great honor that I humbly accept as we begin our first year of operation. Our club serves to carry the original principles and mission set forth by all 100 Clubs – remembering our fallen first responders and providing support for their families. We do our best in assisting the surviving families that have suffered the greatest loss; that of a loved one who was selflessly serving their community. This includes law enforcement officers, game wardens, firefighters and EMTs.

The idea of opening a 100 Club chapter in Maine was first introduced to me by my friend, Bob Preston, who approached me following the death of a police officer in Maine. Bob is closely tied to the 100 Club, as he had previously served as the New Hampshire President. I was more than excited to participate in bringing the 100 Club to Maine as I saw the immediate need for Maine and know firsthand the difficulties faced by first responders and their families. After losing several first responders locally in recent months, I am dedicated to accomplish the goals of the 100 club and provide support and assistance to our great state of Maine.

This club carries a special place in my heart as I was born and raised in Millinocket, Maine and grew up in a family filled with first responders. My grandfather, Bill Rideout, served as Chief of Police for the Maine police department and was a great source of inspiration while I was growing up. His strong will and determination inspired me to serve my community by becoming a junior volunteer firefighter. When he retired, my uncle, Richard Rideout, took over as Chief of Police.

I am excited to oversee the launch and growth of our Maine 100 Club. This is something that our state has definitely needed. My goal during my tenure is to build our membership while raising funds and strengthening our long term commitment to our community. We have officially received our 501 status and have filed for our C3 “not for profit” status, which we expect to receive shortly.
